Public
Affairs & Public Consultation
As a more responsive and socially aware citizenry
awakens in India, public awareness campaigns such as that
of Lions Club International ‘SightFirst’ on prevention
of blindness and ‘Youth Quest’ programmes have
begun to occupy a position of prominence in MelCole’s
repertoire. Environment campaigns like ‘Save The Tree’
and assisting mega-projects like power plants in obtaining
public approval for locations have added a new dimension and
meaning to MelCole public affairs profile.
MelCole also supported Vision 2020: The Right to Sight, a
world wide concerted effort to eliminate avoidable blindness
by the year 2020. The programme involved an active participation
of UN agencies, governments, eye care organisations, health
professionals, philanthropic institutions and individuals
working together to achieve the goal by 2020. Similarly, we
assisted ORBIS in their activities in India. ORBIS is a non-profit
charitable organisation dedicated to fighting avoidable blindness
worldwide.
